Robinson upbeat despite defeats

The Trotters went down 4-2 at Emirates Stadium to the Barclays Premier League title chasers on Wednesday - but not before threatening to cause an almighty shock as they raced into a two-goal lead. Coyle's first match at the helm since moving from Burnley also ended in defeat against the Gunners, 2-0 at Turf Moor on Sunday.

Bolton remain deep in trouble, second from bottom of the table.
However, defender Robinson insists the mood in the camp is positive for the challenges ahead.
He told the club's official website: "We deserved better and we are disappointed not to have got anything.
"Arsenal are a top side, but we gave them a run for their money - twice.
"We have a lot of confidence and there is a real good spirit about the place - the gaffer has given it a real buzz.
"He wants us to play good football and show what we can do, and it has been great how the fans have been right behind us.
"The gaffer wants us to play free-flowing football and we showed against Arsenal that we can do that against the best teams.
"The confidence is there in the group of players that we can pick up points and get out of the position we are in after the last two performances.
"We will be taking our frustrations out on any team that comes in front of us now."
Robinson joined the Trotters on loan from West Bromwich Albion at the start of the season with a view to a permanent move.
He has so far made 10 Barclays Premier League appearances and is hoping the next will come in a tasty Lancashire derby against Coyle's old club Burnley on 26th January.

Allardyce convinced Rovers can climb

Sam Allardyce is confident Blackburn Rovers will avoid being involved in a Barclays Premier League relegation battle.

Blackburn manager Allardyce admitted his players were "utterly dejected" after losing 6-4 in the second leg against Aston Villa at Villa Park, after holding a 2-0 lead.
A goal from former Rovers player Stephen Warnock - after defender Ryan Nelsen looked to have been fouled by Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor - handed the home side a lifeline.
Allardyce, who steered Bolton Wanderers to victory over Villa at the semi-final stage six years ago, is glad Rovers have a blank weekend ahead as they try to regroup for the task of staying in the top flight.
But he also claims Blackburn should survive comfortably if they demonstrate the same quality evident against Villa.
He said: "We've got to get over this setback. We were unfortunate, we had decisions go against us, but we can take a lot of heart from our performance.
"Can we build on that in the Premier League? I don't know. I don't know what the legacy of what's happened to us (against Villa) will be.
"I am damned glad we haven't got a game on Saturday.
"I've got some totally and utterly dejected players and I've got to make sure they overcome this bitter disappointment and get on professionally with what we've got to do now.
"That is to look at the Premier League and work our way up as far as we can and for me to say to them: 'Continue to play like that lads and we won't have a problem and we can enjoy working our way up the league'.
"We can't let this be a hangover going into the Premier League games because we can ill afford that."

Sunderland sign Kilgallon

Sunderland new boy Matt Kilgallon is relishing the chance to test himself in the Barclays Premier League.

The 26-year-old central defender completed a whirlwind switch to the Stadium of Light from Sheffield United on Thursday, signing for an undisclosed fee.
And Kilgallon immediately set his sights on establishing himself in the top flight.
He told the club's official website: "The Premier League is definitely the place every player wants to be. I was ready to kick on and I wanted to play in the top flight. I'm at a club now which has the ambition to stay in the Premier League for years to come and I want to be a part of that."
Kilgallon had signalled his intention to see out the remainder of his contract with the Blades after Newcastle United's interest in him failed to result in a move earlier this month.
The York-born player, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, revealed the call from Sunderland came out of the blue.
He said: "I'm really pleased. I wasn't sure what was going on, it happened really fast.
"I came here and met the gaffer, saw the facilities and thought, 'This is for me'.
"I was out having something to eat when I got a phone call saying Sunderland were interested.
"I almost choked on my pasta. I thought, 'Yes, let's see what they have to say', and now I'm here."
Kilgallon becomes Sunderland's first acquisition in the January transfer window and the ninth signing to arrive on Wearside under the reign of manager Steve Bruce; the eighth on a permanent basis.
The 26-year old is cup-tied for Saturday's trip to Portsmouth in the FA Cup but is available for selection for the Barclays Premier League fixture with Everton on Wednesday.
